Friends and Advocates,

Over the past several months, housing advocates and stakeholders met to identify ways to increase the efficiency of the tax-exempt bonds process. The group included representatives from 15 different organizations representing the public, private and nonprofit sectors. Five recommendations were agreed upon by members of the group. The tax-exempt bond steering committee will work on advancing these five agreements into legislation in 2018.

The Homes for All Community Engagement Team has added new Regional Leads from different parts of Minnesota to bring local expertise to Homes for All's advocacy efforts, and to expand our advocacy capacity as we work to secure resources for affordable housing and supportive services. Last week, Homes for All MN convened affordable housing residents, government leaders, and housing advocates for a press conference to highlight the devastating impact of federal #TaxReform measures on affordable housing in Minnesota and nationwide. CommonBond Communities, a leading affordable housing developer in the Midwest, hosted the press conference at the Upper Post Veterans Community, 58 affordable homes for formerly homeless veterans and their families. Private activity bonds, a key affordable housing development resource now under threat, made Upper Post possible.
