Cue the synthesizer. It’s the final countdown at the State Capitol.

Sunday, May 20 is the last day of legislative session, and time is running out to urge legislators to invest $130 million in bonds for housing. Your calls to legislators in these past few days have had a BIG impact. That’s why we’re asking you to join us for a Twitterstorm from 12:00 - 1 PM this Friday, May 18 to continue amplify our message: We need $130 million in #Bonds4Housing to create #Homes4AllMN!

What’s a Twitterstorm? It's simply a short period of time during which advocates band together to send a high volume of tweets on a specific topic. We draw attention to our topic — and urge people to take action — by:

  1. Using specific hashtags: #Bonds4Housing, #Homes4AllMN, #mnleg
  2. Directing our followers to click on a specific link in every tweet that explains the action they can take ( Our link brings people to a legislator call script for our $130 million #Bonds4Housing request.
  3. Targeting legislative leadership by including their twitter handles:
Senate Majority Leader Paul Gazelka | @paulgazelka
Senate Minority Leader Tom Bakk | @tombakk
Speaker of the House Kurt Daudt | @kdaudt
House Minority Leader Melissa Hortman | @melissahortman

Below are some sample Tweets. Feel free to compose your own, modify ours, or copy-and-paste. Schedule your Tweets in advance so that you can spend the Twitterstorm retweeting and liking others’ Tweets! And, please invite your friends and followers to join!
