The Homes for All Community Engagement Team has added new Regional Leads from different parts of Minnesota to bring local expertise to Homes for All's advocacy efforts, and to expand our advocacy capacity as we work to secure resources for affordable housing and supportive services. As Homes for All gears up for legislative session beginning February 20, 2018, stay tuned to our blog to learn more about each regional lead.

Northeast Regional Lead - Ron Oleheiser

Occupation
Executive Director of Grace House of Itasca County, a homeless shelter located in Grand Rapids, MN.

Fun Fact
I serve on the board of the Minnesota State Fair, and I have fun and enjoy providing opportunities for the great people of Minnesota to make memories, be educated, and have fun at the Great Minnesota Get-Together.

Connection to the Region Represented
For the past two and a half years, as I've served in my current position, I've become involved with the Northeast Minnesota Continuum of Care and have met many new people through my attendance at Minnesota Coalition for the Homeless and Minnesota Council of Nonprofits events.  I have pulled together two meetings of shelter providers in Northeast Minnesota to discuss and learn from one another. Through my volunteer work with the State Fair and county fairs of the Northeast region, I have served as the Northeast District Director for about 20 years.

Why take a leadership position within Homes for All?
I decided to take a leadership role to continue my advocacy and to bring awareness to others of this region with regard to the Homes for All agenda and how that might help our region overall and guests staying at our homeless shelter and others in the region.

Hopes for the impact of this year's bonding request by Homes for All
My hope is that through awareness and advocacy in the region we can bring some new voices to the housing issues that may help us to maintain the housing stock we have and create new opportunities across the region. We need to work with all partners in our communities/regions to keep the Homes for All agenda on the table and in the statewide conversation.
